Variety is the spice of life

The last few weeks were a bit crazy.

They saw me zipping around the country working on two major events in very different roles on behalf of clients. On the inaugural Australian leg of the Xcat racing series, held on the Gold Coast, I assisted with VIP hospitality – although I did find time to capture this great image of a helicopter photobombing one of the boats being craned into the water.

I worked with some great people and it’s hoped the Australian leg will become a permanent fixture on the Xcat calendar.

Travelling to the other end of Australia, at the ACSA / IAHSA global ageing conference held in Perth, I managed the stand for the aged care organisation CommonAge, and hosted the 16 delegates from developing countries who were attending on the CommonAge sponsorship program.

This resulted in some great social media updates and coverage in a number of aged care media.

At the same time, thanks to scheduling applications, social media was being updated for aviation start-up Faradair.

I find working across a variety of industries incredibly stimulating – and it can really help when looking for different angles, promotional opportunities and engaging social media updates.

Aviation and aged care? There are some great 90 plus-year-old veteran pilots who have featured on Faradair’s and CommonAge’s social media pages.

Lighting and aged care? Check out a feature I did for Lux Review on lighting in a residential care home.

Aviation was the inspiration for another article I wrote for Lux Review – read how the Boeing Dreamliner 787-9 windows can be dimmed at the touch of a button.

They say variety is the spice of life – it also key to creating interesting and engaging communications.
